[for intense hikes you will need energy – especially in winter]

2  tablespoons of soft dried fruit such as dates, mangoes, plums
1 tablespoon of oatmeal
1 tablespoon of nuts such as peanuts, almonds
you can add honey to make them sweeter

shred the ingredients in your blender. Add oatmeal, when the mixture is too sticky. Add water, if the mixture is too dry.

Make balls and keep them in an airtight container.

you can deep freeze the energy balls to be prepared for your next trip.

energy balls are perfect for winter hikes. If you live near vienna, i recommend reisalpe and hochstaff – a short hike for winter days and easily possible with snow.
