Granola

granola – Try your own homemade granola

[Once you try homemade granola, you won’t go back to store-bought granola. It’s so much better!]

325g rolled oats
75g sliced almonds
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon fine grain sea salt
100g coconut oil
100ml liquid honey (or maple syrup as a vegan alternative)
peanuts (salted)
dark chocolate flakes

Preheat oven to 180 degrees celsius and melt the coconut oil.

In a mixing bowl, combine the honey, oats, almonds, salt and cinnamon. Stir to blend. Use a large spoon to spread it in an even layer on the baking paper.

Bake until lightly golden, about 10 minutes, stirring halfway.

Let the granola cool completely. Top with peanuts and chocolate flakes.

Another option is adding dried fruit e.g. bananas, dates, figs, mulberries and coconut flakes.

Store the granola in an airtight container at room temperature for two to three weeks.

For breakfast mix granola with your morning favourites e.g. milk products, fresh or dried fruit.
Granola also makes a perfekt topping for acai bowls or any other breakfast bowl.
